Spanish Immersion: From Cradle to Curiosity

At Cloud Nine Childcare, language is not taught—it’s lived.

We believe that children are natural language learners, especially in the early years when their brains are wired for sound, rhythm, and communication. That’s why our Spanish Immersion Program begins in the infant classroom and continues through pre-kindergarten, offering children the chance to absorb a second language in the same way they learn their first: through love, repetition, and everyday experiences.

👶 Spanish with Infants & Toddlers (6 Weeks – 3 Years)

In our infant and toddler rooms, Spanish is gently woven into daily care routines—feeding, diapering, cuddling, and playtime.

Teachers speak simple Spanish phrases and repeat them with loving gestures and facial expressions.
Infants are exposed to rhythmic songs, lullabies, and soothing vocabulary that stimulate early listening and sound recognition.
Toddlers begin to respond to simple TPR commands like “Dame el bloque” (Give me the block) or “Abre la puerta” (Open the door), building early comprehension.

Language development is a sensory experience at this stage—so we focus on connection, tone, and meaningful repetition.

🧒 Preschool & Pre-K Spanish (3 – 5 Years)

As children grow, so does their curiosity—and our program grows with them.

Spanish becomes a part of circle time, STEAM projects, storytelling, dramatic play, music, and movement.
Vocabulary is introduced through weekly thematic units (e.g., animals, colors, family, food) and reinforced in hands-on ways.
Children are encouraged to respond with actions, gestures, and eventually words as their understanding deepens.

By the time children enter Pre-K, they are not only recognizing Spanish—they are using it spontaneously during play and group discussions.

🎯 How Children Learn Language at Cloud Nine: The TPR Method

We use Total Physical Response (TPR)—a proven, research-based language acquisition method where children learn language through movement.

Here’s how it works:

Teachers say a command in Spanish (“Salta” – Jump) and model the action.
Children respond physically—jumping, clapping, spinning, pointing—which helps the brain store vocabulary through muscle memory.
Over time, children begin to respond without cues, demonstrating full comprehension long before they even attempt to speak.

Because TPR mimics how we learn our first language—by watching, listening, and doing—it creates low-pressure, high-engagement learning that sticks.
